FAQS - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What Process do you use to clean carpet?

A. Dalworth Clean uses the "hot water extraction" carpet cleaning method, also known as "Steam Cleaning". Most major carpet manufacturers recommend hot water extraction as the preferred method of cleaning. We also offer Dry Steam Cleaning, a process that also uses hot water extraction but removes almost all of the moisture so that your carpets are virtually dry when the job is complete.

Q. How long does the carpet take to dry?

A. The normal drying time is from 4 to 6 hours. With our Dry Steam Cleaning process, the carpets are virtually dry when the job is complete.

Q. I've heard it's best to put off having your carpet cleaned as long as possible, is this true?

A. No. In fact, many of the major carpet mills today recommend professional cleaning at least once per year. The build up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpets' fibers. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning.

Q. Does your cleaning process soak the backing of the carpet?

A. No, although our process rinses the carpet deep down, moisture does not penetrate the backing of the carpet. With our powerful truck mounted equipment, your carpet is thoroughly rinsed, but left with very little residual moisture.

Q. Can you get the pet odor out of my carpet?

A. Pet odor is a very common problem. It can be a much deeper problem than it first appears. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is multi-layered.

To eliminate this problem the urine must be removed or neutralized from each of the layers effected. If the contamination is limited to the face yarn of the carpet then carpet cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor.

For more severe cases of stain and pet odor, Dalworth has developed a specialized method for removing these difficult pet odors and stains from each layer of your carpet. The good news is that in most cases we can provide guaranteed pet odor removal.

Q. What does it mean to "clean to the standards"?

A. In 1992 representatives from the carpet manufacturing industry, the carpet cleaning industry and the federal government all agreed upon a common set of standards for the carpet cleaning industry. These standards are now referred to as the IICRC S100 Professional Carpet Cleaning Standards. The standards recognize five types of cleaning processes; Hot Water Extraction, Absorbent Compound Cleaning, Bonnet Cleaning, Rotary Shampoo and Dry Foam Cleaning.

Dalworth recommends hot water extraction because it is very effective but offers all of these carpet cleaning methods. You can select the process that's right for your needs.

It was agreed that each of these cleaning processes should include these common steps.

1. Pre-Vacuum
2. Pre-treat spots, stains and heavily soiled areas
3. A thorough rinse
4. Furniture Moving
5. Complete Drying within 24 hours.

Cleaning your carpet in accordance with these industry standards will help assure that you'll get a quality carpet cleaning job.

Dalworth's "standard service" exceeds these specifications. In addition to these steps Dalworth's powerful truck mounted equipment combined with our exclusive "Quick-Dry" process reduces drying time to only a few hours.
